Back to BMX Training Day 3 – 03/01/2024

So this morning I woke up about 6:30 without an alarm and then chilled on my phone for a bit before getting up and doing my weigh in for the day. I was surprised to see that I had dropped 0.1kgs to 107 kgs this morning even though yesterday was an active rest day.  I am glad that I decided to take the rest days as I am feeling much better today and ready to hit sprints again this morning after I go to the tip and empty my car of all the crap that I out in it last night!

When I get back I plan to walk to the track and do my 30m sprint session as planned and then walk home that way I am more or less done for the day as I will be on about 10000 steps and have completed my sprints as well. I then have to get another car load of crap ready to put in the car later to take it to the tip again tomorrow morning! I may also clean all the leaves in the garden once the car is full as I almost slipped down the stairs on the wet leaves yesterday so I don’t want anyone slipping and hurting themselves!

Once that is done I can chill until later when I may pop to Bristol BMX for some gates depending on the weather and how I feel. If I go then I will have to load the car when I get back and if I don’t I can load it before finishing off my steps for the day!

So the trip to the tip went really well. I was in and home by 8:10 and i even swept the path of leaves when I got home to make clearing up later easier! When I get back from the track I will put all the leaves in the garden waste bin ready to put that out on the 19th Jan. I have also put a reminder in my calendar to remind me to put the garden waste bin out the night before on the 18th. I also got 400 steps in while at the tip so thats a bonus 🙂

So I was just about to leave the house to go to do sprints and it started raining really hard so I have looked online at the weather forecast and it looks like it will stop raining for an hour or so at lunch time so I am going to wait until then to do sprints as it will be a bit more enjoyable if its not raining!

I have decided that I will do gates at Bristol tonight so I can get my pump laps and full laps in while doing the gates then its a bit more fun. Also Bristol is a much longer track so will be more of a workout! I have changed my tip slot from tomorrow at 8am to Friday at 8am instead to give me time to load the car tomorrow instead of having to pack the car tonight when I get back from gates in the dark!

PXL 20240103 111927715So the Shimano DXR Calliper arrived today with the Post Woman at about 11:30 so once the lever arrives I will get the GT PowerSeries sorted ready to use it for sprints on Monday morning first thing.

When I get back from the track I will fit some of my Burgtec MK4 Composite pedals to the Curtis RaceLite 24″ so that I can train on flats tonight at Gates at Bristol BMX. I also need to pump up the tyres as the bike hasn’t been ridden for months so the tyres are squishy to say the least!

I drove to the track parked in the sports Center carpark and then walked to the track to get some steps in and warm up, I then did 10 x 30m sprints before I started to feel it in my legs and decided to stop. I could have probably done another 2 sprints to get to 12 but they wouldn’t have been all out efforts so I decided to stop at 10! It turned out to be a good move as it started raining as I was walking back to the container to store my bike, helmet, gloves and sprint stand.

As I was driving home I remembered that I needed my helmet to do gates tonight so i have decided to rest and not do anything else this week on the track other than Sprints and walking to let my body get used to the extra effort from the training!

Next week I will be doing sprints at 5:30 am so I will be recovered by lunch time to start riding on the track at lunch times from net Tuesday to start the full training minus the weight training! I have updated my training plan again to add this change! I have signed up for a coaching session on Saturday to make up for the missed training today and instead of gates as I’m pretty sure there will not be any gates Saturday as the weather is really bad at the moment! I didn’t really want to go on the track as it is really water logged and does not look fun at all at the moment!

The brake lever, waterproof bag for my clothes and the sprint step arrived this afternoon. Unfortunately the step was too small to use for sprints but luckily swapped out the one from the container with my Prostart sprint stand and I have my old folding step in the boot of the car so I can use that one instead.

I will buy some reflective vinyl to make some stickers for the step to show up in the dar over the winter so no-one rides into it while I am sprinting!

I will get the GT setup in a bit so I can test it Friday when I do my 15m sprints at the track. I forgot that I had to go to the track to meet a stone and dust delivery ready for the track works on Friday too so I will have a fair bit of time up there to play on Friday while I wait.

This evening I got the other 7500 steps that I needed to get to 12500 done on the treadmill while I watched Netflix so I have completed my 2 training tasks for the day! My back and left heel are hurting today from training (back) and I have a split heel I guess from the cold on my left heel so that is a bit sore! Its not bad enough that I need to stop walking for now but I will have to keep an eye on it and start putting some creme on it to heal it faster.

I bought some glow in the dark Yellow permanent Vinyl from Amazon which will be here Friday so I will cut some sticker for the Sprint Box and the splat so that I can see them in the dark and also so they are visible for other users on the cycle path if there are any as well. I now have everything that I need to do sprints Monday morning early apart from me actually going to the spot to measure out and mark the distances that is. As I’m not working Monday as it’s my birthday I can do that then before doing my sprints as I will have time 🙂
