Back to BMX Training day 19 – 19/01/2024

Woke up when I woke up this morning as I was off. I still woke up just after 6:30 anyway but the extra hour and a half in bed was nice 🙂

I then got up and did my weigh-in and I was down 0.1kgs again this morning to 107.5kgs so the weight is dropping slowly but it is at least dropping! I expect a big drop after the weekend as racing burns off a bunch more calories 🙂 It also pushes me harder than just training which is always good 🙂

I then went to bed and wasted time on my phone before getting up about 9am and doing some side hustle work on the computer. I have to go up the track later to meet the barrier and toilet delivery so I will get some faster laps in to get used to ridding the whole track not just stopping on the first berm like I usually do 🙂

I have decided that I will swap my 15m sprints session for the pre-DeepSouth race gates session instead 🙂

At gates I plan to do 3 warmup gates to first jump then full speed gate to holeshot line, gate to second berm, gate to 3rd Berm then a gate to full lap. O will then rest 10 minutes and do the same again. I will then do another gate-full lap to make it the equivalent of 12 15m sprint efforts!

Today at the track I plan to so a couple of warmup laps then so 6 x full laps with 10 minutes rest in between to simulate a race day with a quarter-final, semi-final and final.

It looks like we will have 18 40+ racers tomorrow so it looks like we will have semi finals if I can beat 2 people so the race day should be easier than my training today 🙂 To be honest I am not really bothered about how I do as I am a long way from 100% fit but I would like to get close to making the A final at least if possible! I will know more about how I will be doing when I do my full laps today as up until now the most I have done in the past 2 years is 2 full speed laps then half arsed pump the other 2 straights which is embarrassing to say the least!

I’ve just walked past my car and the frost has just started to thaw and I have realised that I left the Curtis in the car over night😱 Luckily its still there so no problem but still it was a rookie move to say the least!

So I went to the track at lunch time and managed to twist my ankle unclipping so I am now planning on racing on flats as my ankle is pretty sore and unclipping will only aggravate it more 🙁 I am going take the new Bergtec pedals off of the Jump bike and put them on the Curtis and practice gates on them tomorrow and see how it goes! I’m not sure I will be able to do full laps tomorrow it all depends on the state of the ankle and its looking like I may have to do flat out first and second straights and then do my normal pump as much as my arms and legs will allow on the last 2 straights 🙁 Annoying but it is what it is and its better to look after the ankle rather than clip in and make it worse!

At about 6:30 my son and myself walked to the supermarket and did some shopping and then walked home again. My ankle felt OK its a bit sore but nothing major. I’m pretty sure it will be OK to do gates on tomorrow at least! We have just got back from the walk and I am on 10980 steps so I am just eating and then I will walk the rest of my steps off on the treadmill before bed!
