Thursday afternoon the Cane Creek Interlok Composite 5mm headset spacers and Gusset Slink Chain arrived for my son’s Airdrop Fade and I fitted the headset spacers tonight. I also adjusted the position of the brake lever and also screwed in the adjuster screw so the brake feels much better now!
I am going to save the chain for when my Airdrop Fade Works complete arrives as I will need it as I will be swapping the cranks over to my bike as they are 175mm not the 170mm that comes with the bike. I will also be swapping the back wheel off of my Son’s bike onto my bike as it has a 16t rear chainring so the gearing on my bike will be the same as the race cruiser that I ride. I will leave my Son’s bike on the 28×11 that come with my bike for now but I have a 14t to go on the rear to make it the same gearing as the 32×16 on my Airdrop fade Works. I suspect that my Son will also prefer the lower gearing but we can try him on the standard gearing first as it will be much better for riding to work on and at the skate park etc but the 28×14 will be much better at the track and on pump tracks.
I have been staring at my Yess for the past week and I am now sure that I want to get black cranks on there but I am not sure that I want to ruin a set of DXR’s so I may look at getting some Cliq or Box Black Cranks or even a set of Shimano Saints if there are any about and keep the DXR’s for the Supercross when I build it up!
My shoulder is starting to feel much better so I am hoping that I will soon be able to start riding pump tracks but before I do that I am going to try and ride longer distances on the Airdrop to start getting in shape. I am hoping to borrow my old hardtail mtb off of my nephew for a month or so to start riding that until then I will make do with the Airdrop Fade for now. I can’t do ant hills or anything too strenuous at the moment so it will not make any difference if I am on a single speed or a geared bike at the moment as I can only really handle riding on the flat at the moment anyway but having the MTB means that I can go along the canal to Bradford on Avon or on the Bath to Bristol cycle path to Bristol and on the Airdrop I really don’t want to take it on the canal as it will get caked in crud from the towpath which is a nightmare to get off.
If I can’t borrow the MTB then I may build up the 4x bike and ride that instead. I have also put an offer in on a used set of Mantiou Circus Expert forks like the forks on my son’s Airdrop Fade to go on the 4x bike as I may build it up and sell it as a complete bike. I am also thinking that I should sell my other road bike as well as I don’t need 2 road bikes and I could put the money towards a decent cross country mtb instead as they are way better bikes to ride around the roads around Bath than a road bike and also put a lot less strain on my shoulder than the road bike. I also have another road bike that I use on the smart trainer so I can always use that if want to ride a road bike. I have to take it for a service and get a front deurallia on it anyway so once that is done it will be fully usable anyway.
At the weekend I also need to get the Octane One Zircus fully built up and cleaned so that I can get that sold as well as the Inspyre 20″ and now my second road bike then once they are all sold I can look around for a hard tail 29er as my winter bike.
