So Just before lunch time the S&M Big Jumper Frame that I bought last week arrived 🙂 I am so happy 🙂
The new Tioga PowerBlock 26 x 2.10 tyres also arrived so I built up the bike as far as I could for now as I am waiting for a 0 degree disk brake mount to arrive. The mount has been posted so it should arrive sometime this week hopefully.
I got the tyres on, switched the gearing to 32 x 16 and built the bike up with the seat from my OS20 Race bike as the post that was on the S&M Camo seat that will be going on there was really long and would not fit. I am really happy with the way that the bike looks and feels. I am going to get a chain on there in a bit and get the bike ride-able all be it brake-less 🙂
I didn’t like the Box seat at all so I put the Camo seat on with the only seat post I had which is chrome and upsets me a bit 🙁 Once I get the bike all together and ride it for a while I will have to cut down the steerer tube as having that massive lump at the top upsets me too 🙁
The seat definitely looks better so I will go out in the garage later and try and get a black seat post to try out. I am just putting the chain on and struggling to find the allen key that came with the bike to use on the chain tensioners 🙁
To be fair with the silver chain the chrome seat post compliment each other so I may leave it alone to be honest.
So this week I have been testing the S&M and I really like it. I managed to get a seat post that would slam fully down so it is not in the way any more:
After my ride this lunch time at the track I noticed that the chain ring was touching the frame so I have swapped the cranks out for my Shimano Saint cranks that I had in the parts box and it now has more clearance so I am happier:
At some point I will have to swap the cranks out for 175mm cranks but for now they will be fine 🙂 I will now just enjoy the bike going forwards!
13/08/2025 Update
So last night I fitted the 175 mm Shimano Saint’s Cranks that I picked up off of my friend at the weekend and also I put my Shimano clipless pedals on the bike too. I think now that I have ironed out the issues with the chain ring rubbing by adding an extra spacer on the BB the bike is pretty much Dialled. I still have some Profile Racing 175 mm Cranks arriving today sometime I think but I will leave them for now as I will need to get a 25 T front sprocket and also put the 12T sprocket on the rear wheel which is a mission and will need a bench mounted vice to get it done as well as needing more money spent to buy a new BB too!
When I get paid i am also going to get a 50 mm Stem to try getting the bars pushed a little further forward to give me sprinting room out of the gate as I either hit my knees on the bars or I am too far back on the bike to get maximum effort out of the sprints. I think a longer stem may help with this! At the weekend I may stick the 24″ wheels off of the Black Market on the S&M to see how it rides too 🙂
