So I woke up at 4:30 this morning and my legs are really sore after all the riding on Friday and Gates yesterday so I am going to have a more chilled day today than planned so I have decided against going to the gym or Patchway this morning and I will instead drag my son to Bath track instead then I am going to meet some friends at Shepton Mallet pump track at about 10 am for a play. I am going to grab my Dialled 20″ from the Container while I am at the track and ride it at the pump track instead of a Cruiser. I will most likely leave the StayStrong Cruiser at the track and then swap the bikes over again during the week to save space at home!
While I have been chilling this morning I have been thinking about my training and how I haven’t really been doing any at all so this week I really am going to make an effort to hit the gym every day and at least on Tuesday and Saturday this week I need to start doing sprints at the track! From Wednesday onwards I have family visiting from Brazil so I will be driving them about so I may not be able to fit in afternoon training which is why I need to focus on early morning gym sessions for the rest of the month!
At gates yesterday I released that I am severely lacking leg speed again so I need to work on my leg strength in the gym and start regularly doing sprints again to build the power and therefor the leg speed! For now I am planning to do the gym every day Monday to Friday with Mon, Wed and Fri being leg days and Tue and Thur being upper body. As I am not racing any time soon I am thinking that I will only do sprints twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday lunch times and then if i miss a session like i will this Thursday I can make it up on Saturday before gates. Sprint wise I have decided to do a session of 4 x 15m, 4 x 30m and 4 x 60m sprints alternating front leg and only on flats for now as I am only riding flats at the moment!
Talking about flats I noticed yesterday that I am finally getting used to riding flats as my gates are almost the same speed as they would be in clips other than I kept hitting the gate yesterday which was annoying! I was however level with my friend who I race against and he was on clips so that’s a good sign!
I have decided that I am only going to keep my Curtis Cruisers so I will break down the Cult and the Standard and get them on the internet for sale as well as the 180mm DXR cranks as well too. I will keep the StayStrong until i get the Profile Elite wheel made up for the Curtis then I will use it as my ride to work bike and also my second sprint bike to run a higher gearing at least once a week! I am not sure if I will run its current gearing of 41 x 18, 42 x 18 or 37 x 16 as my Curtis can only run 36 x 16 without the chain rubbing. This week I need to swap to the Shadow 1/2 link chain to get the rear wheel as slammed as possible too to make it an close to the Curtis as possible as I will need to ride it for at least the next month while the new wheel for the Curtis gets sorted.
