So I was on call last night so I didn’t get to sleep until later so I slept until I woke up, which turned out to be about 7:30! I got up and did my weigh-in then chilled until about 10:00 when I got up and did some work and then get the Dialled 4X frame ready and then boxed it up and addressed the box and then got ready and headed to the track at about 11:30 via the post office to post the frame and also do an Amazon return that I have been meaning to do for a couple of weeks and haven’t got around to it! While I was chilling I bought another pair of 36″ Staystrong Race pants so that I don’t have to wash my race kit after every ride. It makes sense to have more race pants as I already have 4 or 5 race tops so with more race pants I can at least wait 2 rides before washing them if its wet and more if its dry which for the next 6 months is very unlikely 🙁 I also found a way to swap Source points that I have accrued from my other purchases over the past couple years for a £15 discount on the race pants so they were 1/2 price + £15 off so a real saving was had 🙂
I then headed to the track and helped out with the Club championships until about 17:00 and then headed home to chill for the rest of the day!
While chilling I bought a black and yellow StayStrong Speed and Style Pro cruiser frame and used some more of the Source Points other points to get another £15 discount on the frame. I also found a black 52mm Crupi I-Beam stem on ebay so I bought that too! I have decided that the StayStrong will replace the Standard and Cult Cruisers and I will break them down and sell the unused parts to pay for the StayStong build. For now I will build the StayStrong up with the Profile Mini wheels that are on the Standard and pretty much all of the parts from the Standard to be honest and other than the forks as they are Standard too so I will put the StayStrong 20mm forks off of the DK on the StayStrong instead. I will ride the StayStong for a bit and make sure that I like it and then break down the other 2 bikes and sell the parts. I think that the Staystong will compliment my Curtis as it is a 21.75″ top tube so is the same length top tube as the Curtis where as the Standard is a 21.5″ top tube and it has a longer stem to make it about the same as the Curtis and the Cult has a 22″ tope tube and fells bigger and also the bottom bracket is higher so it feels really different to the Curtis.
I am planning to use the StayStong as my do everything other than gates bike while I am not really racing so it will get used a lot and will get the Profile Elite wheels on it once I have serviced them properly. I have been wanting to try one of these frames for a while so I figured that I would get one now to use over the winter! I will also use the StayStrong as my sprints and manual training bike so it will most definately get used!
I also bumped into Gary from Curtis at the champs and had a chat with him and will pop over and speak about options for building me a jump bike frame to replace either the DMR (26″) or BlackMarket (24″). I am thinking that I will go 24″ with a tapered headset so I can use the Rockshok Pike forks that I have on the DMR at the moment as the Black Market has a 1 1/8″ headset and the pikes are tapered so don’t fit! I will also get a 21.75″ top tube to make it feel as much like the race Cruiser as possible!
With all the changes I should be able to essentially replace 4 bikes with 2 bikes going forward so that will be nice to get rid of some bikes!
I also put my StayStrong Hubs up for sale although i may now return them to StayStrong as they have a 30 day money back Guarantee. I also need to get the race pants that the zip broke on returned to Source this week too and then its just breaking the bikes down ready to sell.
