So I woke up about 6 am and got out of the van and walked to the toilets at the campsite and then got back in the van and chilled until about 8:30 when I woke my son up and we said bye to my brother and friend who were just waking up then headed home.
When we got home I ordered a breakfast bagel for us to share and then my son headed off to the shops for me and I got started on the mountains of dirty washing from all the bike rides in the rain! I also put my wet 5Tens on the radiators and then turned on the heating to try and dry them out for riding tomorrow morning!
At about 12:30 I made food and then slept until about 2pm when I started organising the house a bit before the DXR’s arrived so I got a set fitted to the Standard 125R 24″ ready for me to ride it tomorrow:
I have another set to go on the Curtis too then when I build the OS220 Standard I will get another set.
Once I was done with that I started building the Cult up I stripped it down to just the frame and cleaned the headset off and then greased the headset up and re-fitted it and the forks then I greased and installed the new S&M bottom bracket that I bought for it that arrived yesterday and then I decided that I will put the new white S&M bars on it and then fitted profile stem off of the Black Market as it needs a slightly longer one. I then stuck the wheels on it so it is now a rolling chassis:
I’m happy with the way that its looking and the white bars are different and I kind of like them 🙂 Later today I will take the cranks off of the GT Speed Series as they are 175 mm and already have a 42T sprocket on them so will work perfectly for a riding to work and on the pump track bike that I will use it for with the 18T Halo Clickster freewheel on the wheels. I have bought a Jet 42T sprocket and 18t freewheel from Source that will be here early next week and I have the old GT cranks that came with it to go back on it that I think are 180 mm cranks so it will be a complete bike ready to sell next week.
It is positively tropical in the house this afternoon as the heating is on to try and dry my shoes and the tumble dryer has been on constantly from about 12pm too!
This afternoon I ordered another set of DXR cranks from Triton so my Curtis, and both Standards will have brand new DXR’s from next week so they should all be good for a while yet! All my bikes will now have 175 mm cranks with all but the Cult having DXR’s so all will feel the same so I can use any of them for gates over the winter and not have to adjust! I also bought another 2 sets of DXR Brake Calipers as they were on sale too and I need a set for the Cult anyway and I need a spare for the parts box just in case.
My Son tried on my new 34″ race pants and they were massive on him so I have also bought him a pair of 30″ Staystong Race pants and they were 1/2 price at the moment so he is good to ride when they arrive next week as long as the 30″ trousers are not too small that is 🙂
I have also just bought a couple of pairs of Burgtec MK4 Composite Pedals from ebay and got a £4 discount for buying 2 pairs so saving money 🙂 this will mean that all of my bikes will have the same pedals on too apart from the Curtis which will have HT Clipless pedals on it for gates and racing. I may also have to get another set of HT’s later on to have on the OS20 when (if) I race it next season 🙂 But for now all the bikes having the same bars, cranks, pedals and brake levers will make it way easier to switch between bikes later on.
I am thinking if I do get my lent out Curtis back then I will Sell the Cult and use the Standard as the pump track/ riding around bike and sell the Cult as it is the only bike I have with a 22″ top tube when my Curtis and OS20 have a 21.75″ top tube and the Standard 24″ and the Other Curtis both have 21.5″ top tubes but I can will run a 60mm stem on them so they are basically 21.75″ top tubs then so all 3 will ride pretty much the same 🙂
I am just thinking and I think that if I can’t find any black S&M bars for the Curtis I will have to swap the black bars off of the Standard onto the Curtis and then the White bars will go on the Standard and then the black 5″ rise bars can go on the Cult as it has a lot of sheerer tube left over to play with! I think I will crack on with that tonight so that I can get all 3 bikes how they will be for the rest of the year! I think that the white bars will look better on the Standard as it has a lot of white graphics on it anyway so I think it will look less weird on there!
So I put the black bars on and also the cranks, chain, grips and brake lever and the bike looks much better. I am going to hold off on the Standard bars until I have ridden tomorrow as I like the way that it is set up at the moment so I will leave it alone for now. I can do the bar swap tomorrow after we get back from riding.
I may have to steal the pedals and brake caliper off of the DK so that I can ride the Cult to work on Monday morning to see how it feels and get used to it 🙂 It is also missing lucky 8 ball dust caps so I will have to order them too 🙂 I’m not 100% sold on the Freestyle cranks and sprocket so I may well put the Forward cranks on there when I swap them with my friend when I see him as I took the GT cranks off of the Standard to put the DXR’s on it so they are now in the car ready for the next time that I see him 🙂 I am thinking that I may try the Profile spider that I have in the parts box that I bought for a build and never used but I will leave it as is for now though! As I have a 42T chain ring in the parts box already so I can either use it on the profile spider and the Sunday cranks or swap it out for the Forward cranks which I think I prefer the idea of as they are 24mm cranks and will look better and also the 2 piece cranks usually cause less issues than 3 piece cranks do! I could even stick the 180 mm DXR’s on it as they will be coming off of the Curtis soon although I think that I will stick them on my Son’s Supercoss as he currently has MTB cranks on it which I am not a massive fan of as they cause chain alignment issues due to the extra spacers that you need to fill out the 78 mm spindle. To be honest I think the black Forward cranks will look better on the cult anyway so I may put them on there anyway! I will keep the 175mm Sunday Cranks as a spare set of cranks with the new S&M bottom bracket and the profile spider so if I need a set of cranks I have some!
I am thinking that instead of selling the GT and the DK I will clear out the shed and stick them in there to ride when I feel like it but before I do that I will need to build them both up as they are both missing parts at the moment but I have most of the parts on order other than a front wheel for the DK which I will sort out when I get my Onyx 20″ front wheel back from my friend at some point soon.
I am still deciding if I get the hub built up on a carbon rim or an Envy rim to either go on the Curtis (Carbon) or my son’s bike (envy) but I will figure it out at some point! I am thinking that for now I will leave the DK without a front wheel and get all the parts that I have bought this month paid off then I will see. I;m in no hurry to ride the DK at the moment as I have so many bikes to choose from …
The more that I think about it the more I think that I may still sell the GT and DK as its a waist to have them sitting around doing nothing when someone could be using them and enjoying them! it will also help me pay back some of my debt too 🙂
So the Identity Rebate 1420 forks arrived for the Black Market too so I will order a 60mm Crupi i-beam stem for it from Crucial next week then I can get the Black Market ready to start jumping on it on non-sprint days at the track 🙂
I have just found a Profile Elite BMX Disk hub so I have bought it and a front hub to build up for the Standard OS20 build instead of the StayStrong hubs that I originally bought for the build so I will decide what I will do with the StayStrong hubs. I may build them up on Cruiser rims to use as my spare wheels for the Curtis in case of issues when racing as they are really good hubs to have as spare hubs. I can also see if I can sell them for what I paid for them to get my money back too and go from there! Having Profile Elites on the OS20 will mean that it is race ready and can be used for training too if needed as the bearings on Profile Elites are way more water resistant than the Onyx hubs on my Curtis that’s for sure!
