finally got out on the bike

So this morning I woke up at 4:30 without the alarm and it was raining really hard so I decided that a duvet day was in order so I did my weigh-in and I am down a bit again to 103.3 kgs this morning so I’m still heavier than I was on Monday morning but (102.1kgs) but I am still lighter than I was on Wednesday and yesterday when I was 104.1 kgs so not really bad! I really need to knuckle down and do the Carnivore diet properly again so that I can start my weight dropping to get below 100 kgs and reach my first weight goal!

After my weigh in I went back to bed and chilled on my phone and watched netflix until 13:30 when a form from the bank arrived that I signed then walked to the post office to send back again. I then got showered and shaved and went to Frome to meet my fiend at the pump track there!

I took the DK and found that the geo on the frame is really wrong for me on pump tracks and it is really hard to manual as the top tube is 1/4 of an inch linger than my Curtis and the rear end is about an inch longer too so it feels all wrong! I will leave it as my ride to work bike as its is really good for that and I really enjoy it for that purpose!

I also bought a set of 180mm DT Cranks off of to finish off the DT so once they are fitted the bike will be perfect other than the new powerblock that will be arriving  next week sometime! The GT cranks are not as good as DXR’s but will be perfect for the DK and riding to work on and maybe doing some sprints on the bike too at lunch time when I start doing them and it means that I can get rid of the Amazon cranks as they are pretty crappy and creak a lot! They are also 10mm shorter than my current DXR’s on the Curtis so it makes sense to swap them out to make the bikes fell more similar!

I have started looking for parts to finish off building up the Standard OS20 that is hanging on the wall at the moment. There are a few sets of second hand DXR’s on Facebook marketplace at the moment so I will try and get them bought when I get paid then I need to get a set of disk hubs to build up my wheels with as I already have the rims in the garage so when I get paid I will get some hubs ordered and get the wheels made up. It looks like there are no Profile Elites left again so I will have to take a trip to Crucial and see if they can special order me some then build up the rims when the hubs arrive. then I just need to get forks, grips, tyres, tubes and a chain and then the bike can be built up and used as my training/pump track and winter bike so that the Curtis doesn’t get ruined before the season starts! Also I found that the last time I rode a 20″ over the winter I got a lot faster and better when I got on the Cruiser again at the start of the season so I hope that this will be the case again this time around!

I really need to start forcing myself to jump and also ride pump tracks more as I am still really bad at riding pump tracks and the winter is the time to learn to ride them so I need to focus on it more to improve my skills ready to start racing again next year!

I have jsut finished getting over 10000 steps in on the treadmill and I am now at 12052 steps for the day!

I plan to get up at 5am again in the morning and I am planning to get my son up and go to Andover to ride first thing in the morning as it has more jumps to practice jumping on and progress more to get comfortable at jumping! I am also planning to meet my friend at Bath track in the afternoon to get some more training in! I also need to stick flats on my Curtis to start riding flats again as I think half of my issues on the pump track are getting used to riding flats more than riding the pump track its self! That and the fact that I keep swapping bikes all the time which I need to stop!

Once I have the OS 20 built up that will be my only bike for the next 5 or so months and it will have flats on so I will get used to riding flats and pedalling properly!

I was watching a video on OS20 bikes and apparently the closest gearing to 44×16 on the 20″ is 46×18 and luckily I have a 46 tooth chain ring in the parts box so thats one less thing to have to find 🙂 the only difficult thing to find at the moment is an 18t sprocket funnily enough! But I’m sure that I will find one at some point!

I am getting more excited about the OS20 build now as it’s getting closer to being finished so I hope that I can get it done before the end of September!

This morning while on the phone I found a local company who specialise in MTB suspension and they have heavy rated springs for my DH bike so I will also book the bike in for a service/ setup session and get them to set the bike up properly for me then I can start riding wind hill a couple times a week over the winter to get comfortable in the air. I was thinking that I can do Tuesday afternoons when I am off work and maybe half a day at the weekend early to start with then maybe once I get into it I can go Saturday and Sunday morning too. My friend also likes getting up early so I think I can talk him into going on Sunday at least 😁 Obviously I need the bike sorted before I can do this and I will need to buy a years pass to make it affordable to go this much but if I use it then it’s all good! I’m also thinking about getting a dropper post to make it easier to ride up again. Although the DH bike is a dog to ride up hill again! If I get into it I may invest in a Canyon ebike to make it more fun to ride up again 😁 I will have to save up and sell some other bikes to do this so it will be next year at the earliest before I can afford it! I am also going to get a new gravel bike as Ribble have some really good spec steel gravel bikes on offer at the moment so I am going to buy one of them and not put any more money into my current road bike and sell it as is! I will also sell my MTB as the gravel bike can take the place of both bikes! I am also thinking of selling the ebike as well although it is the only bike that my son will ride when we go for a road ride so I may keep it for now!

I am also deffo selling the GT Pro Series at I like the DK more and I think that I am going to sell the Sunday Wave C and the park bike as well as I dont use them at all! I will probably sell the DMR Jump bike and put the parts that I can onto the 4x frame and build that up for 4x next year maybe.

I also want to get my Standard r125 cruiser back from my Friends daughter and have that as a second option for a winter bike.
