So today I was surprised to see that I had dropped weight again so I am now down to 102.6 Kgs so down 0.6 kgs from yesterday! This is crazy as I have been eating chips, roast potatoes and bread over the weekend so I was expecting to get heavier not lighter!
I have been riding the BMX and I have I got almost 9000 steps yesterday (8958 steps) so that must have helped!
This morning I rode the DK into the office and it was as nice to ride as I remembered!
The bike is light and stiff and just feels right to ride although I think I need bigger tyres as it was not a smooth ride into work as I felt every bump π The brake was also a bit crappy but the new Shimano Deaore lever (Same lever as the DXR lever but half the price π ) arrived while I was at the track so I will fir it and the dxr caliper and cable from my Cult that I sold so the brake will be perfect tomorrow π
I really love the Profile Elite freewheel it is super loud and people were jumping out of the way when I was miles away from them today π I think that I could maybe go up a tooth on the front as the 37×16 is a little low for commuting as it is really spinny so when I get paid next week I will see about getting a 38t chain ring to make it a git harder to pedal and therefore faster!
I walked about loads while I was in the office and then I rode home at 11:30 then at 13:00 I got my son and the bikes into the car and we rode for an hour or so at Bath track! We played mostly on the 3rd and 4th straights which was fun but annoyingly he is getting better than me after just 3 hours of riding over 3 days! He deffo likes the Supercross so it his now π My knee was sort today but it was OK to ride on but I need to get to the gym in the morning to start strengthening it up now that I am on 180mm cranks again!
I am really liking the longer cranks as I really scoop at the bottom of the pedal stroke with them so I am deffo faster than on the shorter cranks! I am also manualling better but i am not sure if that is the wider platform from the longer cranks or the fact that I am going faster! I guess time will tell! I have noticed that I am moving the bike around side to side more with the longer cranks though so I need to start doing sprints to work on that on Wednesday.
The only issue i have with the DK is that I am currently sharing the front wheel with the Supercross so its a bit annoying to have to keep swapping it over all the time! I am getting my 20″ front wheel back from a friend that has a 20mm Onyx front hub so I may break that down and get it built up with as 24″ rim and then it can live on the Supercross and the shared wheel can go back on the DK where it belongs! My other option is to wait a bit and then buy a carbon front rim and get the Onyx hub built up on the carbon rim with ti spokes and see what all the fuss is with the Carbon rims π this is a good plan as it will really upset the old school people if they see a carbon rim on a Curtis π I have wanted to try carbon rims as was thinking about buying a set of carbon wheels to race with next year and use the wheels that I have as my training wheels so this may be a good first step to getting the race wheels!
I am thinking that I will do weights Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday Mornings and sprints Monday, Wednesday and Friday lunch times that way I will get stronger and spinnier at the same time. I am thinking that I will do lower body weights on Tuesday and upper body on Thursdays for now then later on I will do plyometrics and upper body on Thursdays once I am used to weight training!
I was talking to my boss this morning and he has been consistently in the gym for the past 12 months and he says that he is feeling much better when he plays cricket and has stopped having injury’s in his legs altogether and can sprint without issue again so I definitely need to get consistent with the gym toΒ stop all the stupid niggly injuries that I keep getting all the time! I also know that regular gym will clear up my knee pain too so I just need to prioritise the gym more heavily!
The gym and sprints should also help me get faster on the bike and also shift weight faster as well so its a win win. Also the lighter I get the faster I will get too!
In the evening myself and my son took a walk to the local tescos metro to get some supplies and for me to get my 10000 steps in π By the end of the day I was on 13437 steps for the day π
