I woke up this morning at 4:50 and almost talked myself into going back to bed until 6 am but then I remembered that I’m back up to 108.3 kgs at the moment so I can’t afford to be lazy any more! So I got up got dressed got the mtb out of the garage and went for a bumble to Bitten and back on the Bath to Bristol cycle path.
The ride took 1 hour and 1 minute exactly, I rode 11.40 miles and had an average speed of 11.2 mph. I found that for most of the ride I rode in second from top gear as top gear was too hard for me to push without my knee hurting a lot. This shows that I really have to start in the gym ASAP to start building my leg strength back up! Especially as this ride is basically flat so it should be fine to push top gear all the time! I used to be able to do that on the road bike which has a much higher gearing too!
I also need to pump up the rear tyre as that was really flat today so that could well be making it harder to ride! I will see tomorrow morning when I ride again!
While I was on my ride today I was thinking about my training and although this time of year is ideal to ride the skatepark I am not sure that I am physically ready to ride skatepark a lot so I have decided that for June and July I will focus on the gym and doing road rides to get stronger and leaner then once I have dropped weight and got stronger I can start swapping days out for skatepark. I am thinking that I will do the following:
I have decided that at I will workout as much as possible during the week then at the weekends I will make sure that I go to the pump track or Skatepark first thing and then in the afternoon go for a walk with my son then rest the rest of the time.
This will mean that I have 5 days working really hard when my Son is at his mums then 2 days to spend time with my son when he wakes up in the afternoons! I find I usually always lunch out my evening workout unless its at the track so I will get my main workouts done during the day and then leave my walking for the evening then I can get more motivated to do something in the evening to make sure I reach my 10000 steps a day every day! I work Monday night so will have to walk of then treadmill desk while I work and I will most likely do the same if its raining but I want to try and get out of the house more if I can.
I have decided that this week I will not work out at lunch time so that my body gets used to my workouts before I start with the 2 a day training + 1 walking session a day as I am a bit sore already today from the morning ride. I think that a week of Riding and gym will be enough of a shock for the system this week.
This afternoon I bought a couple of pegs for my park bike and then this evening I found my old pegs so I will now have 6 pegs but for now I am only using 2 pegs on the left side until the new pegs arrive then I will go to 4 pegs as the other 2 pegs are too long really at 5″ long! The pegs I have on there are 4″ and the new ones are 4.25″ so are roughly the same size so should be fine. I also moved the brake lever onto the left as I don;t like the brake lever on the right and I also put my S&M Long Johnson seat post and Federal Padded seat on the park bike too and pumped the tyres up ready to ride in the morning! I have decided to ride the skate park in the morning as I start at 7 ish tomorrow to make sure that I don’t work too many hours as I keep doing way too many hours at work which I shouldn’t. I also bought a Cult Slim seat and a white Cult Frame Sticker to go on my Cult Race Bike then the S&M seat can then go back on my Jump bike and the cult will be fully Cult’ed up 🙂 Also the black seat will go with the look of the bike better than the camo S&M seat will!
Mixing it up a bit will also shock my body more than just riding the road bike all the time!
I have not done any walking this evening either as my stomach has been a bit dodgy probably due to this being the first real exercise that I have done for a while so my body seems to get rid of a lot of whatever was clogging my stomach up which is all great for weight loss and getting thinner 🙂
