Another rest day :-(

I woke up at 3 am this morning and I was unable to sleep again until about 5 so I was not able to wake up when my alarm went off at 6 am! I came round again about 10 am so I figured I may as well right the day off as I am not 100% still and try again tomorrow! I am going it get up at 5 am in the morning and hit the pump track for a bit as I am crazy to try out the Cult Race bike as I still haven’t ridden it yet!

I did ride it around the car park behind my flat last night and the chain is way to tight so I am going to get the chain off and add a link back onto it to make the chain sit properly as the last thing I want is a snapped chain while I’m riding as I have been there a number of times and it hurts so I want to avoid the pain if necessary! I am also thinking of using a more trails/ park gearing on the Cult so maybe swap it from 44 x 16 (53.59 roll out) to 36 x 13 (53.97 roll out) or a 33 x 12 (53.59 roll out). The 33 x 12 is exactly the same roll out as the 44 x 16 and I have a 33t Profile Imperial Sprocket in the parts bin so I would just need a bottom bracket that will fit the Sunday cranks that I bought the other week and ended up not needing! The only issue is that I would need a different chain I think as the sprocket will not fit the sprocket properly! I do also have a 36t Sprocket as well but again that would need a new chain as well I think!

***  I have just checked and the Profile Imperial Sprockets work with a 3/32 chain so no need to swap the chain out so that may be the best option!

For now I will ride it with the 44 x 16 on with an extra link added to the chain!

I’m also going to swap out the seat for a black Cult All Over Slim Pivotol seat like the photo below and I will  swap the front tyre out for a 20 x 1.95 and move the 20 x 1.75 to the rear to give the bike a bit more cushioning to stop my wrist blowing up all the time when I case a manual or jump!

Cult All Over Slim Pivotal Seat-Black

So next month I will get the new seat, new tyre and some Ride Now tubes and then the Cult will be finished for now!

After the Cult is finished I want to start getting the Standard 125R OS20 build started so I will look to get some Halo hubs for now as they are the most cost effective disk hubs about. I will then I just need forks, tyres, tubes, bb and chain and then its all ready to so as I have have all the rest of the stuff that I took off of the Chase before I sold it and I have brand new rims to be used for the build too so all its not far from getting built up to be fair!

I am going ot go to bed for the rest of the day now and see if I can sweat whatever illness I have out ready to go to the pump track first thing tomorrow even if its wet! Apparently Longwell Green is a bit crap in the wet so I will most likely go to Temple Cloud and then maybe Bath track on the way home as well! I will see how wet it is while I’m out!

So it turned out that I had a basically new chain from the chase in the spares box that had 2 more links in it so I too a link out and the chain is now not super tight any more. I turned out that there was just a tight spot on the original chain so it was perfect in some places and then super tight in another part of the pedal rotation so I’m glad I sorted it anyway as the chain would deffo have pinged off under pressure! So its much safer now!
