Day 1 – Tuesday 7th November 2023

This morning I woke up at 4:45 without an alarm so I got up, got dressed and went out for my first morning walk in a while. This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is IMG_4C200BBA3F8D-1.jpeg

I actually remembered to start Strava as well so it was a good morning 🙂 As you can see I walked 2.86 miles in 50m 32s which was 6100 steps approximately. My ankle felt really good until about half way around the walk when I twisted it again on an uneven paving slab 🙁 I was able to walk back home on it and its not too sire now so hopefully I can carry on walking on it going forwards.

Although it was pitch black for the entire time that I was walking I really feel a lot better for walking! Not only am I feeling more relaxed but awake at the same time. My body feels way less stiff and I am not aching like I have been recently!

I am feeling really motivated to go out for a bike ride at lunch time too which is the total opposite of yesterday when I felt like crap and had zero motivation to do anything! As long as my ankle feels OK tomorrow I will get up and walk the same route again!

I have just found out that my parents are going to leave their dog with me tomorrow until the weekend so I will put riding the bike on hold until next week. I will then take the dog for another walk at lunch time then I can get a double workout in while I can’t ride the bike.

I will then start walking in the morning and riding the mtb at lunch time from next week. This basically means that I will be 2 weeks behind on my proposed training but it will be excellent base training and also give my ankle another week to heal and get stronger!

I tried to go for a walk at about 8pm but my ankle was really sore so I decided to rest the ankle and try again in the morning.

My steps total for the day was 7564 Steps so a long way from my 12500 step target but still about 5000 steps more than I would have done on a normal day without doing my early morning walk!
