Weigh-in

I woke up before my alarm today which was amazing considering I struggled to get to sleep last night as I went back on my phone instead of going to sleep after reading for a while before bed 🤦‍♂️

When I got out of bed I did my weigh in and although I was heavier than I was on Monday (105.3kgs) I was still in the 105kgs (105.7kgs this morning) which is still a loss of 0.6kgs which is a good loss but not as good as the 1 kg loss that I had on Monday!

My weights for the week were:

I put the weight gain down to eating a fair bit of crap in the last 2 days including Chicken bites and chips and a can of Cherry Coke that I caved and got off of Deliveroo 🙁

I will also have lost a bit less weight as I haven’t walked this week as I have been playing on my new e-bike instead which is way less exercise and take way less time to get to the office and back (20 ish minutes compared to an hour walking!) but once my plan of riding to the track at lunch times to do pump laps kicks in the weight should start dropping off at a faster rate than the walking was shedding it 🙂

I am planning to do a test ride at lunch time and then take my bike, body armour, helmet and shoes to the container at the track and leave them there so that I can train without having to take any stuff with me.

Once the stuff is in the container it will be really easy to ride up to the track swap bikes, train and then ride home, eat, shower and change in my 2 hour lunch break so I will try and make it a daily occurrence during the week to increase my training load and get used to riding the bike on the track again. Once my new 29er arrives I can also get an hour on the smart trainer in in the evenings too to burn more belly more quickly and then I should be sorted once my shoulder is ready to ride properly.

I have just got back from my first ride to the track on the Pure Flux One and I have to say that it flew up the hills without too much issue other than the battery ran out of Juice 3/4 of the way up the big hill so the power reduced a lot for the last bit!

As you can see from the elevation gain profile the hill to the track is pretty steep and I gained 470ft to get to the track which is about 555ft at the top of the start hill!

I found out on the way home that the brakes on the bike are totally useless and I was doing 25mph with the brakes full on down the steep bit of the hill! Can’t wait for the Zoom cable actuated hydraulic callipers to arrive later in the week as once they are on the bike will be pretty much perfect for me to use.

Before the ride I put my Nukeproof Bars, Stem and ODI Vans lock on grips from my 4X bike onto the Pure and it feels much better now and my shoulder didn’t bother me one bit all the ride. Changing the bars also made the Pure fell a bit less Hybrid and a bit more jump bike now which like. With the shorter stem the bike feels a lot smaller too which I also like a lot!

The bike looks a bit weird but I can live with that as it rides so much better than it did before.

I am just about to take the battery off and put it on to charge so that I have the bike fully charged for the morning. I am now totally sure that the Pure is a good solution to me getting to the track to train every day and the time it took me to get there and back is about the same time that it would have taken me to get to the track in the car and the ride was so much less stressful as well as saving money and being better for the environement!
