Healing up nicely.

bandaged head

I went into the hospital on Tuesday morning to check on my splinted right little finger and the splint seems to doing its job. While I had the splint and dressings off we could see that the infection in the finger had totally gone and the wound was 95% healed too which is a great sign.

Other than the finger my left wrist (sprained) and my right shoulder (torn rotator cuff) are getting worse so I have to call the doctors and get an appointment to get them looked at as soon as I can. They are most painful at night when I am sleeping and first thing in the morning which is causing my sleep to be disrupted a lot!

I have found that sleeping on my parents sofa is much better for my shoulder but not so great for my back but I will keep sleeping on the sofa instead of the bed as I slept in bed last night and was in a lot more pain this morning compared to the other few nights when I slept on the sofa!

I have been looking after my parents dog this week so I have been between my house and theirs as their internet is too slow for me to work and the dog doesn’t eat or sleep properly at my house as there is too much going on around my house.

I have decided that next week I will start walking again before work as I am able to walk normally so at least I can work on losing weight while I can’t ride my bike. As my finger is in a splint I have to tape it into a plastic bag to keep it dry which makes it difficult to have a shower at the gyms so I will just walk on Monday morning as I am working in the office and need to be sweet smelling to work 🙂

On Tuesday, I plan to get up at 5am walk to the gym, go on the recumbent bike for an hour and then walk home and have a shower and then start work. Depending on how that goes I will maybe do that 2-4 times a week to really try and get the weight back off as I have definitely put weight on again!

My brother has also lent me his weight vest to wear when walking to try and get more fat burnt but I think I am a few weeks away from being able to use that yet.

I am thinking that I will do walking and recumbent bike for the next few weeks at least until I can get my shoulder looked at and my finger out of the splint then I can add some weighted walking as well as the recumbent bike.

Its at least a 20 minute walk to the gym so just walking to the gym and back will take a massive chunk of my 100000 steps a day target!

Once the wrist and shoulder are a bit better I will be able to get out on the road bike or use the normal exercise bike in conjunction with the recumbent bike to give a bit of variety. Once I am a bit better again I will be able to use the spin bikes. By that time it is going to be winter again so riding in the gym will be a much better option than using the road bike so I may well just do the gym for the winter.
