Not been riding much

rennen 4

I haven’t done any of the riding that I had planned to do over the past few days! I got to the track yesterday and measured out and marked a start line and 30, 60 and 100m marks ready to do sprints and then I started trying to manual 10m when I got some alerts on my phone that server deployments were failing and as I was on call I had to go home and look in to the issues! the rest of my evening was taken up working so I couldn’t ride. The same was true of this morning! I woke up at 5:30 and started working at 6:00 and didn’t stop until now!

I am going to have to make up for this by doing sprints and a pump track/ track on Saturday and ride somewhere locally on Sunday as I have decided against racing this weekend to try and be fresh for the Nationals next weekend.

I have decided to change my gearing on my Cruiser from 36×16 to 41×18 so that it is a close to the 20″ gearing as possible:

24 x 1.60 Tioga Power Block:

41×18 = 53.54

36×16 = 52.88

20 x 1.75 Maxxis Torch

44×16 = 53.63

As you can see my current gearing is a fair bit lower than the 20″ so you really feel the difference when swapping between the 2 bikes. Hopefully this will not be the case after the gearing change! 41×18 is supposed to be a little easier to get moving out of the gate too so that would be nice too 🙂

I have bought a new Rennen 41T chain ring from Crucial which I will pick up tomorrow and a new KMC K1 Narrow chain from Amazon. The Rennen chain ring is a 4 bolt threaded chainring so the Chain ring bolts screw directly into the chainring so no need for chin ring bolt tools when doing the bolts up and no spinning bolts at the back of the chainring!!

I have checked the clearance on the frame and it looks like there should be plenty of clearance with a 41t chain ring but we will find out tomorrow I guess 🙂

I will swap the 16t Sprocket for the 18t from my parts box on the S&M Steel Panther and remove the chain ring and chain ready to swap out when I pick up the 41t chain ring tomorrow morning.
