Weigh-in

weigh-in

Got up and did a weigh in this morning and racing yesterday equated to a 1.4kg weight loss so My weight was down from 108.7kgs to 107.3kgs which is a great start but I need to drop more as I am further away from my weight goal by the worlds than I was at the start of the year 🙁

Although I am heavier than I was at the start of the year I am definitely way fitter than I was at the start of the year as I was able to do 4 almost full speed laps on Sunday which I couldn’t do this time last month! This is all the more amazing as I have not been able to train very much at all this year and have been mostly riding an e-bike for the past 2 weeks.

I guess that even though the ebike has been doing a lot of the work for me I have been spinning my legs pretty much non-stop all the way to work and back so my leg muscles have been getting a bit of a workout at least.

I have been thinking about the ebike and I think that I will probably get a swytch kit for my road bike when they are released next so that I can use the road bike to go to the track and stop going up there in the car all the time. I am going to build up the dialled and leave it at the container so that I can go up on the ebike and ride the dialled then ride home on the ebike again.

The jump bike is also now completely setup so I want to start manual training from tonight to try and improve my manuals as quickly as possible before the Worlds as my manuals still suck big time and I saw on Sunday that ALL the fast riders have really good manauls. As I said before the jump bike makes it easier to get the front wheel in the air on the flat so I plan to use it until I get better at manuals then i will start using my race bike again.

I have also decided that I am going to get my car back on the road and it is booked in for an MOT and service next Wednesday (9th March). I was going to try using the Enterprise car club instead but I have been using it the last week and the hire of the car works out about £25 plus petrol every sprints, gates or Basketball session so adding that to the £20 monthly fee, the car will have paid for its-self in just over 4.5 months so the car club is not a great deal for me. In fact I would roughly be spending £320 a month only using it 3 times a week so I could actually buy a nice band new car for that monthly payment. Also with the car club I have to walk across town to pickup a cheaper car and my car is always in the driveway so I save time as well.

Fingers crossed my car doesn’t cost too much to get through the MOT as the cost of second hand and new cars are ridiculous at the moment so I really don’t want to buy another car right now! When I get my bonus on the 15th I want to get my motorbike MOT’ed and get it sold and then I have some money for a deposit on a new car/ van if needed but I hope that my car will last another year or two so that I can pay off my debt from this years Nationals and the cost of racing at the Worlds which was way more expensive than I thought it was going to be. Either way I will know by next Wednesday what I need to do and then I can start budgeting properly again!
