First Training and gates sessions on the Speedco M2

speedco

Today I had my first training session on the Speedco and the more that I rode the bike the more I liked it! I am really happy with the choice and amazed how well the bike rides even though I have not set it up correctly as the brake doesn’t work at all and the back wheel is too far forwards so the chain is really loose.

When I did some gates on it after the training session finished I was even happier with the bike as it is amazing out of the gate too! I was snapping so quickly and was really fast to the first jump it felt so stiff out of the gate so all of my force seemed to go to the back wheel and push me forwards. I am thinking that when I get paid next month I will get the black and red frame that they still have in Crucial and build it up as my winter bike and training bike so that I save the black and yellow frame to build up to race Nationals next year and to go to the worlds on. That way I will have 2 identical bikes to ride on going forwards. I have to pop in to Crucial on Monday so I will ask them to keep the frame back for me so that I can make sure it doesn’t get sold before I get paid next month. I also have to get my back rim replaced and also get the bearings in the Profile elite hub on my son’s bike swapped out so that. I can use it while my rim is replaced.

For my worlds build I want to get tapered forks instead of 1 1/8″ forks and I am toying with getting the colour coded Avian forks but I am leaning towards getting the tapered Yess reach forks instead as they are almost half the price of the Avian forks so I can put the difference into the hubs which will make more of a difference anyway. I will then slowly buy identical parts to the ones that I have now to get the bike setup for March/April next year.

I also sold my Son’s Redline as he is going to have my Dialled to use instead as I had built it up to ride to work with the old wheels from the redline but as it will now have profile elite wheels on it I will not be doing that any more! I have to get the Redline back from the club container where it is living at the moment to clean it and swap all the parts over to the dialled ready to sell. I will put the money from the redline into the new Speedco build too.

I was going to sell the Dialled but I always regret selling them when I do so I talked my son into having it instead. I also didn’t want to sell the dialled as  I recently shelled out £150 to get the headset removed and have the frame stripped and powder coated so it wouldn’t be cost effective to sell it at the moment. My Son only rides at weekends anyway so he isn’t too bothered which bike he rides really.

Tomorrow I will clean the bike and dial in the back end and then it will be even better than it was today 🙂

I was also really happy about how the knee felt during and after training too so I think that I am ready to get back to training next week. I am currently icing it to make sure it is OK to start training next week.
