Early morning jumping session at the track
Woke my son up at 7am and got to the track for 8am as planned. We did a few pump laps to warm up and then we went to the second jump on the first straight and did an hour of solid jumps on the table top. We were hitting the jump slowly and concentrating on the squash and pop to improve our technique rather than hitting it at full speed and trying to jump it which would of not improved anything.
We had to share the same bike as the bike that my son usually borrows was not in the container but it was cool as when one was jumping the other one was resting. It is amazing how many jumps you can get in in 60 minutes, we timed the hour to make sure that we definitely did an hour’s practice at low speed.
After the hour was up we did a few full speed jumps and then went home.
We are planning to go to the pump track early in the morning and work on our manuals and jumps while we are there as it is the perfect place to practice both. We have decided to go to Frome pump track as it is the closest one and is half way to my parents house so it makes sense to go there. It is also one of my favourite local pump tracks and has a lot of smaller jumps which is perfect for getting my son’s
confidence up.
Once we finish at the pump track we will pop to my parents house and pick up my dad’s vice so that I can try and remove the old cups from my Dialled MX24 frame to replace the headset and get it built up to ride when my son is on the 20″.
