Blew past 10000 Steps again Today!

walk

I woke up at 5am and showered and walked into the office as I have a project to complete today only to find that my access has been revoked to the office as I have changed roles this week! Because of this I headed home again to get on with some other work until I can figure out what to do about my access! Hopefully this will be the worst that happens on Friday 13th!!! Its not all bad news as I have already done 6561 steps today and its only 7am!

I got my access sorted and had to go back to the office by about 11:00 and then I did loads of walking while at the office and then I walked home so I ended up doing 18227 steps for the day 🙂

By the time I got home I was really tired and had a bath and then chilled out for the rest of the night! I decided that I would not set my alarm to get up early and wake up when I woke up as I had nothing planned so I had no need to walk early!

I am planning to go to town with my son tomorrow so I will definitely get my 10000 steps in anyway so no need to do them first thing.

Today was the last day of my first week off of shifts and I am amazed at how much less tired I am at the end of the week compared to the exhausted mess that I was after a 4 day shift! I have found it really easy to adjust to the new hours and it has been so easy to get up at 5:30 and get out of bed and walk every morning. I have also found it super easy to eat better and cook food after work. To be honest it feels weird the amount of spare time I have now compared to the shift pattern where you spend 4 days literally working and sleeping and then 2 days recovering from the shifts and 2 day trying to get ready to go back on the next shift!

I need to focus this week in building the habit of doing some study before and after work so that it is just one more thing that I do automatically in a few months time as it will really help with my transition into my new role as well as my future career progression! I am also hoping that once my Python skills are more developed that I can start doing some freelance projects to try and make some extra cash and build up a profitable side hustle that will also accelerate my skill development as well as bolster my CV going forwards.

Training wise I am going to stick with my plan of walking first thing for the rest of the month to build a bit of consistency and then I think that I may swap the morning walks for doing my BMX specific training first thing when it is any training other than track sessions and then walk in my lunch break and/or after work instead. It is important that I start with the bmx specific training as soon as I can but I want to keep up with the walking as it really helps with my back and also acts as a kind of meditation for me and increases my quality of life and sense of wellbeing as well.

Regarding the BMX Training I have decided to not put the gym sessions into the training to start with as I think that it will be too much so I am going to replace the gym days with car park skills as I basically need to improve my manuals and wheelies urgently to progress next year! so my revised training plan will be:

DAY AM PM
Monday REST REST
Tuesday Carpark Skills/Sprints Walking
Wednesday Walking Racing Bristol
Thursday Carpark Skills Walking
Friday Road Bike Walking
Saturday Walking/Track Session REST
Sunday Walking/Gates REST
