Bought the bits for the Dialled MX24R Cruiser
I woke up this morning and saw the cruiser hanging up in bits and I decided to buy the parts that I needed to get it built up.
I basically needed a new headset as the new (to Me) frame uses a push fit headset and my old frame used an integral headset and I also had issues with the chain tensioner rubbing the rear hub when the wheel was tightened up so I have bought a different set of chain tensioners that I am pretty sure will work with the frame.
So I jumped on Wiggle and bought a Brand-X headset and some DMR chain tensioners as well as I used them both on my old Dialled Bikes so I know that they work.
The Brand-X headset is amazing value at £13 for a sealed headset and I have been running one on my Curtis for 2 years without issue.
The DMR chain tensioners work well with the dialled frames as the inside of the part of the tug that fits inside the dropout sits flush with the frame so it doesn’t rub on the hub. I also think that they are designed for chrome frames which is why they work well. I think that the forward ones rub due to the fact they are wider to work with aluminium frames which have thicker tubing which causes them to rub.
Once the back wheel is sorted I will put the brake back on then the cruiser will be ready to go!
The parts will arrive Friday so the bike will be ready to ride at the weekend if I feel like it! To be honest the 20″ Dialled MX20R feels so comfortable to ride that I am really enjoying riding it so I’m not too bothered about riding the 24″ at the moment.
I am actually thinking that I may get the onyx wheel built up for the 20″ and then use the profile elite wheels on the 24″ and then save for a new set of onyx wheels for the cruiser next year as I have decided to take a break from racing for the rest of the year to stop spending money and try and get financially more stable to be able to comfortably afford to race next year! I am also going to have to replace my car soon so I would like to replace it with a camper van of some kind so that I can camp at races instead of getting hotels all the time. The camper would also be good so that my son and myself could just pack up and head off somewhere at the weekend and be able to take all the bikes, helmets etc and have somewhere for my son to chill and play games when he gets bored with riding (which usually doesn’t take long 🤣).
