Picked Up Onyx Wheel Today
I woke up early and then had to hang around waiting for my son to wake up which he didn’t so at 9:00 I woke him up with a cup of tea and got him ready to leave to go pick up the wheel! I finally got him into the car about 10am so we left and picked up the wheel just after 12:00 (12:10 to be precise) which was good going as we stopped to get petrol on the way and were stuck behind cars for the majority of the way! It was a really picturesque drive so we were not bothered and the roads were really wet and narrow anyway so we couldn’t go too fast anyway.
Once we got the wheel we headed home as my Son was still super tired from the DofE so really didn’t want to get out of the car let alone go to the beach!
Part way home he decided that he was hungry so we stopped for a snack at KFC in Shaftsbury on the way home and then took a detour to Warminster on the way home to get Burger King as my son hasn’t had it for ages!
When we got home I fell into a food coma for a couple of hours and my Son got on with playing games 😂
When I woke up I ordered a 16 tooth Shimano Sprocket for next day delivery from Wiggle as I only had Profile 16 tooth sprockets in the spares box and they do not fit on the Onyx hub! and a Crupi Cassette Lock Ring – CrucialBMXShop.com as I noticed that the hub was missing a locking ring so wanted to get one before I use the wheel.
Once they both arrive I will swap out the profile elite wheel and fit the tyre and tube onto the Onyx wheel ready to test later in the week. I also have some more tubolito tubes arriving Wednesday so I may wait until then to do the wheel swap as I will only have to swap it once.
Once the Onyx wheel is fitted the bike will be 100% ready to race! Just in time for the Bristol regional on Sunday 🙂 Hopefully it will mean that I do better than I did on Wednesday otherwise I will have a miserable weekend 🙁
I am setting my goal to gate under 2.8 seconds this weekend so that I can try and be gating at a similar speed to the National guys by the time I race again at Gosport in the middle of the month (The fasted guy last weekend gated at 2.660, 2.664, 2.674 and 2.640 in the final so super consistent and wayyyy faster than my 2.974 fastest gate!). As this year is basically about getting used to National racing I am not too bothered about regionals so I am not worried how well I do at the weekend to be honest although I would like to do OK as it is one of my home tracks! It is also my last regional of the year as I will have qualified for the Brits in August so I don’t need to race any more!
I have a long way to go to get anywhere close to National level but my gate to the first straight is the strongest part of my riding so I have more chance of getting up to speed on that than around the rest of the track at the moment so I am making it my goal to get near to 2.8 seconds as possible is an achievable goal by the end of the season. I do not have the
