10000 Steps: Day 22 – Super tired

I woke up late again today as we had to do a late walk again due to being late to sleep last night! I didn’t even try and wake up at 5:30 this morning as I set my alarm for 6:45 to wake up my son to get ready for school and I also needed to get ready for work!

I had to stay late at work to finish something off so I didn’t go for my walk until after 21:00 and we had about 8500 steps to complete which was totally annoying but work today was totally crazy so I didn’t get a chance to go out for a walk at lunch as I had planned to do!

1000 Steps

I did remember to start Strava today BUT I forgot to stop it so the timing of the walk is way over but the distance is still useful. We managed a 4.20 mile walk which got me to 9800 steps by the time I got home and then I got the rest of the steps in doing chores around the house. I had hot 10000 steps before 23:30 so I was happy with that.

My cracked heels are starting to get worse and were hindering me on the walk today so when I got back I covered them in E45 cream which should sort them out with a bit of luck! I need to get something to scrub away the dead skin as they are pretty bad at the moment! If the e45 doesn’t do the trick I had some Snowfire Ointment that definitely will work 🙂

I am not walking again in the morning as I am off tomorrow and will be walking to my ex wife’s new flat in the morning to build some furniture for her and the flat is at the other side of town so I should have reached my 10000 steps by the time I get home anyway and it will be good to have an evening off from having to cram in steps before I go to bed as the last few evenings have been pretty stressful!

By the end of the day I had managed 10076 steps so I just scraped over the 10000 steps but its another day that I could have given up but another day I got on with it and made it another day closer to my goal! Again I am pretty proud of myself as I am getting on with it and not letting all the excuses make me give up! To be honest it is starting to get to be a habit now so it is getting way easier to get myself moving and way easier to talk myself into not giving up! Also the fact that I am in way less pain than before (Thanks mostly to my Vivobarefoot shoes!). I can also feel that I am slowly getting fitter as I am way less winded while walking up hills and also my Asthma is way better than it has been for as long as I can remember so I am definitely not planning on stopping walking anytime soon and I have now decided that my goal at the end of the month will be to walk 10000 steps a day for 90 days in a row.

I could have picked to walk 60 days but I felt that as I will have already completed the goal of walking 10000 steps a day for 30 consecutive days I felt that just setting the same goal again would be a little bit boring so I decided to set the goal of walking 90 days instead so I have effectively doubled this month’s goal! After that I most likely set the goal to 6 months then a year and after that the habit should be formed so I should be able to just carry on with very little effort so I can just add yearly goals for walking or up the number of steps to say 15000 and repeat the goals from this year! I will have to see how I get on this year, nut another option may be once I complete 6 months walking 10000 steps a day I then start again by doing 30 days at 15000, then 3 months then 6 months so at the end of my year I will be walking 15000 steps a day! I kind of like that idea as it will mean that not only have I achieved the goal I have actually over achieved and completed more steps than necessary. I also think that I will have to go back to the office in August or September so walking to the office and back every day will make hitting the 10000 steps a day way too easy as there and back is about 9000 steps on its own!
