2nd Timed sprint of the year

sprints

Tonight we did another flat sprints session for the second time this week. We have decided to do this every other week when my training partner Matt is not coaching.

It was just us two tonight as the kids didn’t want to train.

I had lowered my bars before the session to see if that affected my times etc and surprisingly I felt better and my body was more stable and the bike wasn’t moving as much. It also showed in my times as they were consistently faster than the Tuesday session even though the weather was colder and I was having difficulties breathing properly because of this.

I was still unable to get under 4 seconds for the 25m sprints although I did 3 sprints in a row under 4.082 seconds and the 3 slower efforts were all under 4.132 seconds so pretty good and really consistent so that is a good sign. Unfortunately I had to stop 2 short of the 12 efforts tonight as my knee was a bit sire so I didn’t want to push it too much.

I still wasn’t as fast as I was on the Speedco with the Onyx back wheel but I was much faster than I have been recently and the bike felt better than ever. I am going to try and drop the bars a little more to use my Crupi I beam front load stem to see if that makes me faster or slower then i think the Meybo will be sorted.

I am thinking that now that I will have to swap out my Son’s frame I will let him have the Meybo and I will try and build up the Speedco with the longer stem to see if that feels better. If it doesn’t I will probable get a Pure frame as I have been wanting one for ages and it has pretty much the same measurements as the Meybo so should feel pretty good.

By doing this I can use the Meybo (my Son’s bike) as my training bike when the weather is really bad so that I don’t mess my bike up too much. I want to experiment with my Son’s gearing a bit and maybe drop him down to a 35×16 as he seems to have difficulty getting the bike going out of the gate so maybe this would help. It will also make it more spinny for me so I can overtrain on it a bit 🙂

Fastest Times:

25m = 4.064

50m = 6.775
