01/04/19 – 05/04/19

No riding again as my knee was really sore and the weather was really bad.

Also had to empty the house as have to hand it back on Thursday next week.

I did manage to keep off of the fizzy drinks and keep up with drinking loads of water. I also cut down on crisps and chocolate and also fast food.

06/04/19

Got up early and went for a bike ride on the Mountain bike. I did 11.73 miles in 1:05:38 with an elevation gain of 267ft.

I found that my knee couldn’t handle being in top gear when there was any kind of incline no matter how slight it was which is obviously not great.

Since the ride my knee has been really sore so I am not going to the gym today as I had planned to.

07/04/19

Did my first night shift last night and it was ok. I managed to keep my eating down apart from ordering chicken nuggets at 23:00!!!

Woke up at 13:30 today after getting to sleep about 8:00 so will have a sleep later on again to make up the deficit.

Did my weekly weigh in when I woke up and I was surprised to see that I had lost 1.6kgs so I am back down to 105.9kgs. Not bad seeing as the weight loss is mainly from healthier eating and cutting down on crisps, chocolate and sweets. Going to try and hit the gym tomorrow.

We hand the house back on Thursday so have lots to do to get it ready so not sure how I will go getting to the gym before Tuesday at the earliest but I will give it a try.

I have been thinking about what is next and I have been looking at my options and how I currently live my life and I am going to try and move towards a more minimalist lifestyle. I have been slowly doing this while I was in the US at the beginning of the year as I am basically using the same clothes all of the time and also I have cut down on the amount of shoes I have. On my next 4 day off I plan to go through all of my clothes and get rid of everything I do not use. Obviously I will have more stuff than a normal minimalist due to the fact that bmx racing has a lot of equipment that goes with it but I can use the fact that I am not racing this year and cut down on the amount of equipment I have.

Next month I am going to rent a storage unit and get rid of everything that I don’t use and then over the month get everything on eBay and sold that I don’t use.

I am going to be pretty ruthless and get rid of pretty much everything that I can and all of the money that I make will go into my new savings account so that I can see how much money I had lying around.

Knee has been bad again today. Hurt it getting out of bed and getting out of chairs twice today.

Also really tired as only slept for 5 hours again this morning. Still getting used to working the whole night.

On a positive note my new to me 22″ United KF22 arrived today. As did my new phone so a good day all around 😁

Can’t wait to ride the bike properly in the morning and going to take it to the track when I wake up for a play.

There is another S&M Speedball 2.4″ tyre to go on the front to make it better for street/park and the track and I already know that I am going to change the stem and bars as I prefer a front loader stem and lower bars and then I think it will be good. I have some S&M race bars at home which are lower than these bars and also a couple of black front loader stems as well so I will get them changed tomorrow hopefully.

I had a quick go on the 22″ in the office and it feels really nice apart from the bars being too high. As the top tube is the same length as my cruiser and my 20″ race bike it feels really comfortable already!

In a month or so I want to get some S&M forks to replace the green ones as I’m not a great fan of green to be honest so the more black I can get on there the better. Also the S&M race bars I have are also black so it will all match once the forks are black as well. I also want to swap the brake out at some point as its not the best brake or lever bit they will do for now. I may stick a gyro on it as well I’m not sure yet.

I also want to try it on the gate on Thursday to see how it feels and I may pop over to Gary at Curtis and get a race geometry 22″ built up as well πŸ™‚

The new phone is pretty impressive as the photo was taken on it and it is 100 times better than the photo’s on my iphone that it replaced.

I am going to get some photo’s of my 20″ freestyle bike tomorrow to get it up for sale as I don’t like riding it really and I hate the fact it is brakeless too.

I think I am going to keep my 20″ Dialled race bike frame for the time being in case I want to have a 20″ a 22″ and a 24″. I think I am going to hang the frame on the wall for now as a piece of art as I really love the frame to look at as well as ride. I don’t really feel the need to ride the 20″ at the moment but don’t want to sell it as I really regretted selling the one I had before this one.

11/04/19

Put the other Speedball on this morning and checked everything was tight on the bike and pumped the tires up a bit as they were flat.

Went up to Bath tract to try the bike out and it felt good. The gearing is too high for the track and felt horrible compared to my race bike but other than that the bike felt good. I am going to look in to getting a lower gearing on the bike as I want the gearing as close as possible to my race bikes.

Had to stop riding as the higher gearing hurt my knee after a while.

12/04/19

Got up early and took the 22″ to the pump track in Shepton to see how it felt. It felt OK but again the gearing was too high and made my knee hurt. The bike also Feels harder to manual than the 24″ but maybe it is just that I need to get used to it a bit more.

Met my friend Jamie at Windhill Bike park in the afternoon as he had borrowed a full sus bike for me to try out the bikepark.

Had a really good time but the bike I borrows had a long seat post on it and the seat was a little too high for me to jump properly which in hind site was probably a good thing really πŸ™‚

Really enjoyed riding there and as there is not much peddling my knee was fine. I had a couple of twinges walking up the hills again bit apart from that I was pain free all afternoon.

I have decided that I am going to get a Full SUS bike now and ride at Windhill as much as I can until my knee is strong enough to race BMX again. Hopefully I will be able to drop a lot of Weight doing this as you burn a bunch of calories doing it and I am aching all over so it must be working out the whole body too.

My bike shed arrived today while I was out so I built it and took the 20″ bikes out of the garage took photos of them and posted them for sale on facebook groups.

Did the same thing with my Redline Cruiser frame and forks.

I bought a Dialled Cruiser Frame for me to use while I am injured so that I can break the Curtis down and sell the wheels and hopefully get the 20 mm dropouts changed for 10 mm ones while I am injured.

It is getting picked up for me at the weekend so I can pick it up early next week. I am getting a Dialled Frame in Chrome, Black S&M race forks, Black S&M bars and a Chris king headset. The guy selling it has also thrown in a stem, brakes, a setpost and a seat clamp.

13/04/19

Took today as a rest day as I was sore from the Mountain biking yesterday and figured I should rest up as I have work tomorrow. Apart from walking the dog and organizing some

I have sold my Redline Cruiser Frame and forks so the shed is getting clearer until my Dialled frame and forks arrive next week πŸ™‚

14/04/19

Did my weigh in this morning and it wasn’t great but I still lost a bit (0.6kgs) and was down to 105.3kgs.

Rode my 22″ from the car to work this morning just to get used to it.

I am planning to hit the gym Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday so that I can hopefully drop below 105kgs by the weekend.

I am also going to increase my water consumption again this week as it dropped significantly over my 4 days off last week.

21/04/19

Weighin was good again. Lost 1.6kgs this week with little exercise again so down to 104.2kgs.

Celebrated by taking the dog for a walk around the loop that I want to do on the bike next week. It was a really nice walk and took just over an hour (1 hour and 9 minutes) we walked 3.3 miles with pretty much all of it being off road which is cool and over half of the walk being in the woods. The trails look really fun for bikes too with exposed roots all over the place and a couple of stream crossings and jumps.

I am going to try and do this every morning for the next 4 weeks to see how this affects the weight.

22/04/19

Got up around 7:30 am and walked the dog in the route again but I did it the other way around this morning. It was easier and took 4 minutes less to walk today.

Going to go to the gym later on to do some weights in my lunch break as I am working nights this week.

23/04/19

Got home at 8am after my night shift and went straight to bed. Woke up about 14:30 and took the dog for a walk. Did the same loop as yesterday but forgot to start Strava on my phone until half way into the walk so no stats today.

I have decided to walk this route with the dog every day for 30 days to see how my weight changes. I also think that it will be good for strengthening my knees and ankles as the terrain is really bumpy so really works them.

Hopefully I will remember to start Strava as I leave tomorrow. I am going to do route the same way as I did the first day tomorrow for a change

24/04/19

Got woken up at 12:30 so got up and took the dog for a walk. She wasn’t too happy about it as it was pissing it down and cold too. We did the loop as planned.

25/04/19

Got home this morning and had diarrhea so I am taking that as a sign to take it a bit easy today. I am going to have a rest day as I have my last night shift tonight so I want to get through that in one piece so got to rest up.

Bit annoyed that I have failed to walk every day this week but what can you do. Going to change my goal to walk 5 days a week for now and build up to the 7 days.

On the plus side my knee is feeling much better so the walking is helping with that at least.

26/04/19

No exercise again today. Got to bed at almost 10am as I had to drop off a frame to be powder coated. I was really tired and woke up at 16:30 after sleeping through my alarm at 15:00!!!!

Then had to rush around for what was left of the day and then went back to sleep at 23:00.

27/04/19

Got up early and took the dog for a walk with my son as he hadn’t been around the loop yet. We took a detour through the middle of the woods which was fun but a bit more challenging than the normal route. We also went for a shorter walk in the afternoon too.

28/05/19

Got up early and did my weighin and was pleasantly surprised that I was down to 103.4kgs as I haven’t really done any exercise this week other than walking the dog. I only lost 0.6 kgs this week but still a good amount to loose.

Off for a walk again in a bit to make it walking the dog 5 days this week which is not 7 days as planned but it is still good and yelded results 😁.

Apart from the weight loss my knee is feeling much better too. I hope this is due to the walking but it may be due to not riding any bikes this week either. Hopefully it is the walking strengthening the knee not being off the bike.

I have a rest day tomorrow but I plan to still walk as it is not really high intensity and it helps me relax and also the dog loves it 😁

29/04/19

Took the dog for a walk again today it took just over an hour again. Feeling pretty sore today so made the most of my rest day for the rest of the day.
