Took my Dialled Staystrong 20″ to Crucial to get built up to ride for the winter do that I can get my Curtis Cruiser Serviced and then store it for the winter. The Dialled hsa a new to me set of Profile Elite hubs on sun envy rims and is built up with the majority of the parts from my 24″ Dialled that I sold the frame from last month.

I half built it up but couldn’t fully build it up as I can’t find the Chris King bottom bracket that was taken off of the 24″. I am getting a cheap shimano bottom bracket for now until i find the chris king one but to be honest it is better to not use the chris king one over the winter. The 20″ should be ready by the end of the week so I am excited to ride it as I have never tried profile hubs before.

It took me all morning to take the bike to bristol and I had tooth ache when I got back so I didn’t ride today.

I am riding tomorrow in the morning with my friend Jamie so I will more than make up for today.

09/10/18

Got to the track this morning and walked the dog for about an hour until my friend Jamie arrived. The dog loved being out in the grass and played really well and met a few new dogs and behaved really well. I even let her off the lead for a while so that she could chase a stick that I threw for her and she came back every time so really pleased.

We then did some jumping on the tabletop. We did this for about an hour or so and both got better and more relaxed in the air.

It was good to be on the bike again especially as the sun was out and it was nice and warm.

Just realised that I have not had any fizzy drinks for a week and a half now and today was the first day that I didn’t have a head ache or feel like total crap so looking good to stopping for good this time.

10/10/18

Had the day off today as I had to wait in for some deliveries which were annoyingly spread out over the day!

Got a call from Jamie at Crucial to say that my bike is ready so I will go in tomorrow and pick it up and then go to Patchway for a ride to test it out. Can’t wait it has been ages since I rode a 20″. Also got my other dialled 20″ back yesterday as well so have to change the wheels to the profile elite set that arrived last week. The bike will be my pump track/ play bike for now and I plan to ride it to work and back and around town to get more bike time. Also plan to use it for manual training on the flat.

While I have been doing nothing but watching reruns on tv and looking at facebook and youtube I have been thinking about goals for the winter. One of my main goals is to be able to manual 50m by the end of the winter. I can currently manual about 3m on the flat so it is going to take some work to get it but I think with some practice I can get there. I am planning to go somewhere in my lunch hour and practice manuals for an hour to get better faster. This is something that has been holding me back for over a year now so I need to get it better this winter.

I will set some more specific performance goals when I get my Rennen smart sprint which my friend picked up for me but keeps forgetting to bring with him every time I see him!

I am going to by a measuring wheel so that I can use the Rennen to time various distances on the track I ride as well as measure sprints more accurate. Then I can set more performance related goals for the winter too. I will also set some fitness goals once I establish them with Curtis when he starts me off training next week.

Got up early and picked up the Dialled Staystrong from Cruicial Bmx and took it and the dog to the track.

Really enjoyed riding the bike again. I got 5 pump laps in before it really started raining and I decided to call it a day.

13/10/18

Went to the track today to run gates but not many people turned up so we just played instead. Did some first straights and then some jumping of the tabletop and that was pretty much it. Getting more used to the 20” and easily manualled the jumps on the first straight.

15/10/18

Got up at 4am and went to the gym before work to start my new training program.

Unfortunately my rib in the back that I have broken a few times decided that it was going to brake again while I was doing squats 🙁

I carried on and finished but it is now really painful and is definitely broken again.

16/10/18

I am going to have to take the rest of the week off at least as my rib is really painful to the point where it was waking me up during the night! Really gutted as I was excited to start training properly.

23/10/18

Tried to do sprints today bit by rib was really sore again so I gave up. I had arranged to meet my friend at Bath track so went and tried to ride but had to stop after jumping the tabletop a few times. Have decided to take the rest of the week off from training again and am going to the doctors tomorrow to try and get my rib looked at.

24/10/18

Didn’t go to the doctors as I was ill in bed with tonsillitis. Was so bad I had the night off of work.

25/10/18

Didn’t train again today as still sick although much better than I was yesterday.

26/10/18

Still sick but went to the track anyway and met up with my friend Matt.

I did about 10 first straights until I cased one and tweaked my rib so I called it a day.

I am running gates tomorrow so I will try to ride again although I am currently full of snot which isn’t helping my asthma!

I must say that I am getting used to flat peddles and I am loving riding the dialled 20″ and especially loving the profile elite wheels they are really smooth and fast and make a nice noise.
