10000 Steps: Day 2 – No shin splints or knee pain

30 day challenge

10000 Steps: Day 2

Woke up at 5:30 this morning and left for my walk at 6:00 and had a really nice walk. My son had stolen my headphones so I wasn’t able to listen to music but to be honest it was a nice change to take in the sounds with the sights as I walked this morning. I prefer listening to music as I walk as I get more into a zone as I walk than I do without music.

I was amazed that my walk was pain and asthma free this morning thanks to the new inhaler I picked up yesterday (the new cfc free inhalers are really bad as you never know when they are finished and you are just huffing fumes!!! Hence the fact my asthma has been so bad for the last week!!!) and the Calf sleeve that I bought on Wednesday.

I can’t believe just how effective the sleeve has been in not only reducing but stopping 90% of my knee pain and 100% of my shin split pain! So worth the £10 I spent on them. It is without a doubt the best £10 that I can remember spending in a long time.

10000 Steps: Done:

10000 Steps As you can see from the to the right I walked for 1:23:54 and covered 5.13 Miles, climbed 261 ft and burned 1013 calaries apparently!

I took a slightly different route home today to avoid the river as its has been getting too busy recently and I liked the new route but the river is way more relaxing from a visual point of view as it is way more picturesque and there is also 0 traffic which is nice.

I am thinking that tomorrow I will go a different way and go out of town towards Bristol instead of around town like I usually do to change things up a bit and also see which is better. I noticed this morning that it is light enough to be in the skatepark at 6:15 in the morning so I may try to get up earlier to get my walk in and get to the skatepark early to get an hour of skating in before work.

If I wake up at 4:45 instead of 5:30 I would be able to walk for an hour to get my steps in and then get an hour of skating in before I have to be back to work when I am on days which would mean extra calories burnt and extra smug points for getting a skate in before work too 🙂 Especially as I would have the skatepark to myself all morning 🙂 I can even have my skateboard on my back when I walk and walk around the park so that I can get my steps in and get to the skatepark as soon as it is light. I am going to test this out on Sunday and see how it goes.

Part of my usual route goes passes right in front of the skatepark and goes around the outer perimeter of the park that the skatepark is in anyway so I can cut around and walk the whole perimeter and then walk in the park to make up the rest of my 10000 steps for the day before I go skating as a treat for making the 10000 steps.

This mornings walk was 10,344 steps according to my fitbit and I seem to remember that 2 loops of the park is 5 miles from when my brother used to run so I may get away with doing the 10000 steps in the park which would be even more relaxing as there is very little traffic at that time in the morning although there will most likely be crack heads to contend with instead!

We will find out on Sunday I guess!

Second Walk of the day done:

Walk in woods

In the afternoon my son and myself went to my parents house and took their dog out for a walk around a local loop that goes through a local wood which was nice but a little muddy. In the last mile of the walk I hit 20000 steps for the day!

As you can see from the image on the left I forgot to start Strava when we left my parents house so it didn’t record our entire walk!

I was again pain free for the walk so the sleeve is doing its job really well!

It is now 21:30 and I am on 24854 steps for the day which I think is an all time record for me 🙂
